Garstang and District Children’s Festival 27th May 2019
It is that time of year again when we start to think about summer and what better way to start than the Children’s festival. We started planning this year’s festival in January when the thought of sunshine and a day of celebration is something to keep us all going.
We had our first tableaux meeting in March. It is always exciting to hear from the tableaux makers just exactly what they have planned. There appear to be a number of celebrations of special events this year – but I couldn’t possibly say what they are, that is all part of the fun of the day!
The bands are all booked, the health and safety assessments all updated, the
Borough Council consulted and the road closures planned and all the events for the field are coming together. The to do list is pretty long as you may imagine but because of a great committee, all the members seem to know just what to do and it all magically comes together on the day. On your behalf I just want to thank all the committee, the collectors, the tableaux makers and all our supporters, without everyone coming together Whit Monday just wouldn’t happen.
A big thank you to John Tyson and friends for organising the Tractor Run at
Christmas. It is now becoming a new event in Garstang’s calendar and it gives us a good boost to our fundraising.
If you want to find out more about the Children’s Festival or Whit Monday (as we call it as well), please check out our Facebook page, or find us on twitter, or on Instagram. If you have any questions, you can get in touch with us on any of these channels or ring us. We don’t want anyone to miss out on the day. The Facebook pages will also keep you entertained all year round as we get photos donated to us.
So please do join us, there is so much to see and do on the day for everyone and especially for families it is a great day out. Make sure the date is in your diary and we will see you there!
