Welcome to Garstang and District Chikdren’s Festival for 2013. As I write this introduction to the brochure it is a lovely sunny morning, just the sort of day we are hoping for on the Spring Bank Holiday Monday. As you can imagine, plans are well underway for the day and we already know that there are some really wonderful tableaux planned for the day.
The festival is a really special day in the calendar of events for Garstang. It really launches the summer activities for the town but, most importantly for the festival committee, it is the one event of the year which focuses on children and young people. It is their day, and thanks to all the volunteers and parents that ensure all the tableaux are created and the funding is available and the route is organised, it is a special day for them.
I would personally like to thank the festival committee for their part in ensuring that this event happens each year, and welcome the new members of the committee. If anyone is interested in joining the committee please get in touch. We are always looking for new members. A big thank you to all the organisers of the tableaux and the house to house collectors without whom we would not have a festival.
